Lab Reportal Usage

Guidance for laboratories and customers on access, communications, documents, datasets, and pre-submissions.

Application Purpose

  • A common platform for laboratories to communicate data and information to their customers.
  • A managed laboratory testing data and document storage platform for laboratory customers.

System Enrollment

Laboratory customers cannot enroll themselves. Enrollment is initiated by the customer’s lab using the email address on record.

Logging In

Using “Send Login Link” (Required for initial login)

  • When a user is enrolled via a laboratory communication, a username (customer email) is created with a random password.
  • Click the user icon (top right) → “Send Login Link” → enter the enrollment email.
  • If registered, an email is sent with a login link valid for 5 minutes.

Using “Sign In”

  • After initial access, users can reset the random password.
  • Click the user icon → “Reset Password” → enter a new password → “Reset”.
  • Click the user icon → “Sign In” using the email and new password.

Communications

  • View non-data communications: welcome notices, sample status, lab information, and more.
  • All communications are also emailed to the customer.
  • Communications are retained in the portal for 6 months.

Documents and Datasets

Documents

  • Downloadable files, viewable for standard types and printable for PDF.
  • Download individually or as a combined ZIP.

Datasets

  • Download: CSV files or API endpoint access.
  • Combine multiple datasets into a single CSV.
  • Trends: Advanced charting and analysis tools.

Filters include Lab, Submission Id, Received Date Time (UTC), and Sample Count.

Pre-Submit / Barcodes

Pre-Submissions Summary

  • View pending and completed submissions and completion status.

Pre-Submissions Setup

  • Create pre-submission data and associated barcodes.
  • Changes auto-save and can be continued later.
  • Container Id is optional but useful for workflow.

Best Practices

  • Include the primary Submission Id barcode with deliveries.
  • Print sample barcodes (Avery Template 5260) when possible.
  • If no labels are used, write Sequence or Container Id on containers.
  • Use simple consecutive Container Id values.

Basic Steps

  1. Select the receiving laboratory and submission type.
  2. Add samples using “Add # Samples” or “Spreadsheet Data”.
  3. Ensure spreadsheet headers match the submission type fields.
  4. Update fields as needed using “Update Column(s)” and “Update Value(s)”.
  5. Edit cells directly, then click “SAVE CHANGES”.
  6. Run “ERROR CHECK” to enable “SEND TO LAB”.
  7. Send the submission and print documents/labels as needed.

Completed Pre-Submissions

  • Primary document accompanies sample delivery.
  • Barcode labels improve accuracy and reduce manual error.

API Access

  • API access is provided by the laboratory for automation use cases.
  • Requires a developer resource to integrate.
  • Availability of data/documents is at the laboratory’s discretion.
